Congress returns next week. Few people expect impeachment hearings to begin right away, or even for Speaker Pelosi to say that they should begin right away. But is it too much to expect that Democrats in Congress will 1) channel a bit of executive spirit and reply to any inquiries with “all options are on the table, period” and 2) start setting the table? That’s not too much to expect. Voters last November expressed a clear preference for adult supervision of the president, and now–even though it may not be pleasant or easy–it is time for Democrats to do what they were elected to do. Blown deadlines by Secretary Mnuchin and others cannot be excused or tolerated any longer. The time for conniving and giving benefit of the doubt is over.
In sum, this coming week can and should be Infrastructure of Impeachment Week!
